I'm just guessing, but I'm sure I saw a lot of you people at the Beautiful Losers screening at the Plaza Theatre last Thursday. You know who you are. : )
I didn't know what to expect, but I came away glad. You could feel by the energy in the room, filled with students and artists of various ages, that people identified with the artists in the film. I spend so much time trying to "bring the serious" that it's easy to forget why I started: I saw people around me creating personal, inspired art and, acknowledging a power I could never achieve, I wanted to support them in what ways I can.
So, I suppose I should start learning who these "beautiful" people are...

I was inspired to read your write up. After first seeing this film at SXSW 07 I instantly knew we had to have it here in Atlanta but wasn't sure if it would find an audience. Good to know it did. Now what do we do we follow it up with?
Yeah, I think it hit a vein with a lot of people. I was surprised actually.
Follow it up, huh? You know... what if we did something like invite a speaker or did a workshop. I think there's an environment for it; just come out and say "We don't have a lot of hangups. Let's just share ideas."
I'm sorry--are you one of the organizers?
Jeremy Brady was the second person to speak before the screening, and the person who invited MINT to curate the art. Beyond that, I know that he was very instrumental in the entire event.
